Wisdom: The Need for Academics
To lead children to grow in wisdom we provide instructional activities and structured play that will meet the academic needs of our children. Lesson plans are available each week along with the classroom newsletter detailing the instructional activities. Weekly lesson plans include fine and gross motor skills, math, reading or concepts of print, phonemics, language, science, and social studies. In the infant and toddler rooms the teachers are leading children in brain growth activities designed by neuroscientists to increase dendritic growth. Also, Our teachers have been trained in phonemic awareness, the single most important indicator of a child's success in reading. Music is an important part of our daily activities. In addition to daily music activitis lead by the classroom teachers, we offer a separate music class on Wednesday with music teacher, Christina Lee.
Stature: Developmental Needs
To lead children to grow in stature, we provide two healthy snacks each day. The morning snack is cereal and always includes milk. Afternoon snacks are designed to contain more protein to lessen the drop in blood sugar levels that often happen in the afternoon. We also provide water. Water is essential for proper brain function. We have a full-time Children's Recreational Specialist who teaches gym class. Parents also have the opportunity to contract a dance teacher for a dance/movement class that is offered here at WECC.
Favor with God: Spiritual Needs
As a Christian child care center, we take seriously our responsibility to lead children to grow in favor with God. We have Bible stories, videos, we pray and talk about Jesus and Biblical truths. We share with our children, parents and employees what the Bible says about how to have a relationship with God.
Favor with Man: Social Needs
To lead children to grow in favor with man, we provide many different settings, activities, and time for children to learn to socialize. We teach children to share, take turns, use their workds and that friends and family are important.
